Tying Fiberglass Rebar

Tying fiberglass rebar is similar to tying steel rebar, but there are some key differences to keep in mind.

tying fiberglass rebar

Firstly, fiberglass rebar is not magnetic, so you can not use magnetic rebar tying tools. Instead, you will need to use a manual rebar tying tool or an automatic rebar tying tool that is specifically designed for use with fiberglass rebar.

Secondly, fiberglass rebar is not as flexible as steel rebar, so you may need to use a more open tying pattern to prevent cracking or damage to the rebar.

To tie fiberglass rebar, follow these steps:

1. Cut the fiberglass rebar to the desired length using a saw or angle grinder.

2. Place the rebar into position, making sure it is properly spaced and supported.

3. Hold the rebar together where the overlap occurs and twist the wire around the rebar at least three times.

4. Cut the wire with a wire cutter, leaving enough of the wire to twist the ends together.

5. Twist the wire ends together at least three times to secure the rebar.

6. Use pliers to twist the wire ends together tightly.

7. Repeat the process for each overlap in the rebar.

It's important to note that proper tying of fiberglass rebar is essential for maintaining its structural integrity and strength. If you are unsure how to properly tie fiberglass rebar, it is best to consult a professional contractor or fabricator for guidance, such as Unicomposite pultruded profiles
